She didn't always approve of your involvement in triathlon.

Her appreciation of sports was limited. For her, it was just a past-time, a means to other ends: alleviation of boredom, making new acquaintances, attaining a medically desirable level of health. Beyond that, it was a luxury, an extravagance, and ultimately a waste of time.

Well, I guess we're in a bit of a blog drought here. Usually inevitable with huge inputs of information coupled with creative outputs. I've been thinking heavily about the Fiction Fridays. I've been advised they're a good idea, but since going to Dave's novel workshop I am in the process of giving my world such an overhaul that I'm not sure I want to anchor myself down right now with existing text. So I'm going to spend more energy working on the outline. Also, 500 words here are 500 not in my

Because I have some unexpected time on, this, the eve of the eve of a trek to Western Pennsylvania for the region's premier cycling event (and in the interest of padding those meager stats to the left), here's some recycled material about my first and only other trip three years ago. It's not all old, though. I've added footnotes, Klosterman style. Okay, not exactly Klosterman style; they're in the body of the text because scrolling down would be a pain. And they'll probably be less clever.

I try to be mindful and present - thinking about the here and now. Sometimes, though, it is fun to think about the what is to come. Especially when the future holds a vacation and a big personal challenge… We bought a tent and some sleeping bags. Kris and I both grew up camping with our families, and we have been hoping to continue that tradition in our own family. We have been together for ten years been have only camped once. So, now we can camp a lot more, starting with our next vacation

I have my first multisport event of the season on Sunday, the Gear West Duathlon. I have not done a duathlon since I lived in Colorado. The Rattlesnake Tri had a tri and duathlon option. Since I didn't have a wetsuit so I decided on the duathlon. It was pretty hard. I searched for race results, but couldn't find them that far back. I must confess that I didn't feel like I got the tri bug after this race.
