By Dave "Kahuna" Nicholas, managing director of the XTERRA Global Tour…

The first day of summer in Wales was a pretty typical day. Cool, misty, a bit of rain. Oddly enough this weather followed a few weeks of unseasonably high temps, so even the stoutest of Welshmen were confused by it all.

Impressions of Ironman

Posted: 27 Jun 2008 07:57 PM CDT

It's hard to know where to start, now that it's done. How many times can I reiterate the fact that Coeur d'Alene is drop-dead beautiful? I doubt, with the race day conditions, there is a better place to do the Ironman. I'm sure, however, I'll look for a place over the years to come. So I swam the thing in 1:34 - what makes that incredible is that, folks, I really didn't do much swim training. I had an open water swim of 1:52, and then a pool swim of 1:41 at the distance - I really was hoping

45 Min Swim, 1hr15min Run 31 Minutes Ago | Posted to: Triathlon Nothing special here. Swim felt fine. Run felt fine. This concludes my week goal of getting back onto the horse with a ten hours week. Not sure what next week holds. Maybe an incremental increase. Maybe none. At this low intensity and given the time until the race I should be turning out closer to 17-20hrs but given where I've been recently, I'll take 10. Met Jim in the pool who's apparently a mad man because after I got out, did a

Hacking Non Profits... For Profit!

Posted: 27 Jun 2008 10:35 AM CDT

Last week Friday the website of a popular charity in the US was hacked. You might say "whoa Jacques that's amazing, and your point is ?". Well, let me explain why I think this is more relevant than many other simple intrusions. I'll try and set it out using examples of data that I have obtained, and make some assumptions. If you agree with them, that's great, if not let's discuss! The website in question is Tricolumbia.org. A quick briefing about what tricolumbia is all about:

I'm in a pissy mood this morning. I think I woke up in a bad mood and then I just got into a worse mood when my computer was acting up and doing all sorts of crazy things. I hit a few times, which probably didn't help much, but I was about to throw it off my balcony. I was really about to lose it so I turned it off and hit the gym. I thought I could run off my anger but it didn't really help. I feel a little better, but not much. I'm supposed to go to dinner tonight but I got an email saying

Mostly this will be a riding update, and it will be short, as I'm tired! I just got back from a 4 hour 20 minute ride with Hobgoblin and another friend. It was a lovely ride, even more so as we were in danger of not going because the weather forecast threatened rain and storms. But we decided that since it's not cold, getting wet shouldn't be a problem, and then all we encountered was a few sprinkles now and then. Perfect! For those of you who know the area, we started out in Ridgefield and t

I've been complaining/whining or a combination of the two about my bike performance this season. It's not that it's bad. It 's that I thought it would be better. And when I get an idea stuck in my head, it festers for A LONG TIME and takes stern action to remove it. I was talking with my Coach yesterday about my recent race. I explained how I thought the swim went well, the run was awesome, and the bike was fine. In comparison to last year at this race, my watts were an average of 5 higher. She
